Dr Roger Woods describes the seminal role of Data and AI to accelerate innovation in the Northern Ireland Start-up ecosystem. Professor Roger Woods is Dean of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Queens University, and Chief Scientist of Analytics Engines Ltd. He is an inspirational research leader in research who throughout his career, has demonstrated a flair for entrepreneurship and innovation. Working with industry partners, he has commercialised several advanced microchips for filtering and digital TV as well as developing novel computer solutions for real-time data analytics. He has been responsible for coordinating the AI research activity at Queens University and establishing the Northern Ireland, High-Performance Computing facility which is focused on supporting AI-driven research. He has also translated his creativity and passion by creating an innovative entrepreneurship module looking to help students in turning knowledge into business.
