A Digital Future for Planning - Spatial Planning Reimagined

During 2021, Digital Task Force for Planning carried out a comprehensive cross-sector study seeking to create an integrated digitally enabled methodology to spatial planning, which can provide a place-based whole systems approach to tackle climate change and achieve Net Zero. The Task Force report, A Digital Future for Planning: Spatial Planning Reimagined (Batty & Yang, 2022) was published in Feb 2022. The report set out an ambitious blueprint for the sector’s future. The talk will share key findings from the report and will also share the Task Force’s plan for the next stage. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, the Task Force will focus on the Development part of R&D - as a convenor, facilitator and enabler of digitalisation in mainstream planning practice & education for public interest.
