About this talk

The pandemic has demonstrated the power of data sharing. Many of the new services that were spun up rapidly in the face of the crisis were only made possible through the innovative, emerging approach of conceiving of data as a product. In this salon we will hear from three experts who are proactively looking to make data sharing across government work better. They are: Nigel Matthews, Chief Data Officer (CDO) for the Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) at the Cabinet Office; Dan Bailey, CTO at the CDDO at the Cabinet Office; and Solutions Architect Andrew Carr from Scott Logic.

Nigel and Dan will provide an overview of the CDDO’s strategy for delivering on the ‘Data Availability’ pillar of the Government’s National Data Strategy. Drawing on experience from the public and private sectors, Andrew will bring the ‘data as a product’ concept to life and distil some of the key opportunities and challenges around decentralising control of data. There will be ample time for you to discuss, share insights and ask questions on this important topic.
