What can we learn from 35 years of closing the digital divide in Africa?

Russell Southwood, author of Africa 2.0 - Inside a Continent's Communications Revolution (Manchester University Press) has worked on digital divide issues in Sub-Saharan Africa for the last 22 years. He is in conversation with Lauren Kahn, BT’s director for responsible tech & human rights (formerly DFID’s deputy director for international digital policy & programmes). The conversation will look at what different experiences in African countries might have to teach British digital leaders about addressing these kinds of issues in the United Kingdom and whether there might be a useful two-way traffic in terms of ideas, regulation, programmes and work.
